WARNING! eBay Security Risk - Your eBay ID could be stolen WHILE ON EBAY!
WARNING! eBay Security Risk - Your eBay ID could be stolen WHILE ON EBAY!
Each day millions of people search eBay for a great bargain or any of the millions of items for sale. Most don’t realize that that it is VERY easy for them to have their eBay ID information stolen while on eBay. I have been selling products on eBay for over six years and also helped tens of thousands of others start and grow their eBay business. Now, this article is neither about how you can make money through eBay nor about any tips about how to sell more through eBay. The purpose of this article is to alert eBay buyers and sellers specifically about a major security risk that I discovered and how to make sure you don’t fall victim! It is a phishing scam. This is when someone displays a fake copy of a form and tries to get you to fill it out with your ID and password. The scam artist will then be able to access your account. Usually they will then list bogus product for sale at great prices. Once someone “wins” the item, they will try to get them to send a check or money order to a different address, or to quickly Paypal the payment to a different account. Since the buyer thinks he is dealing with a legitimate eBay seller they often follow the instructions. The thief simply keeps the money and it may be a week or so before the victim even knows they have been ripped off. By then it’s often too late. ** THE DANGER ** I came across this while helping a client research why the DVDs he had listed on eBay weren’t getting great bids. When I clicked on a link to view a different DVD the page redirected to what looked like the standard eBay login screen. But it wasn’t! When I looked that the URL (the web address) I saw that it was coming from a site that was not eBay! Ack! That’s a very scary thing. My jaw hit the floor when I saw this dangerous eBay security risk. At first I could not believe that such a security risk could exist on eBay. It seems that it IS POSSIBLE for some HTML auction ads which redirect to an outside web site to show up on eBay. Even if eBay traps 99.9% of these attempts, it only takes one to find a victim. This is especially scary since logging in to eBay is something we all do many times, and don’t often think twice about. A little carelessness could cost you getting your account infomation stolen. Plus.. if you use the same password for your Paypal account as your eBay account, chances are the hackers would gain access to that too. In fact when I sent this warning to everyone who subscribes to my eBay selling newsletter I heard from a surprising number of victims who HAVE had their eBay IDs stolen. I’ve put together a short video that shows exactly how I discovered this phishing scam. You can see the video at: http://www.platinumpowerseller.com/link/link.php?P=2682 Now the point of this warning is NOT to tell you it is dangerous to buy or sell on eBay. No, rather it is just to warn you to be careful. You can’t assume that eBay will immediately detect and prevent 100% of the phishing attempts. Train yourself to always look at the URL (the web address) before entering login info. Not just for eBay but any website requiring you to enter such info. eBay is a great place to buy (and even a greater place to make money!) So just be careful to check before entering any secure information and you can still enjoy the experience.

Are You An Ebay Auction-Wallflower?
Maybe you’re NOT one of those people that likes to stand out in a crowd. Perhaps you are more comfortable as the token wallflower at parties, dances, clubs or any other various social setting. That’s fine and entirely up to you. But if you are trying to make money online, especially via the multiple conduits offered through Ebay, then you’d better get prepared to let the hidden exhibitionist in you out and put yourself in the lime-light, intentionally!
You’ve got to want all eyes on you - front and center - if you hope to earn a penny online because you are competing with millions of other people who are trying to make a living, or even a few extra dollars, in the same fashion.
If you’ve simply opened an Ebay account, listed your item, and are now sitting there waiting for people to view it, let alone bid on it - then you are regrettably an auction-wallflower fading into obscurity by the second.
Now, I can hear you asking yourself what you should do about this. I happen to have a few suggestions.
Firstly, scrap your auction title. Likely, you’ve done what everybody on earth has done with that exact same item for sale on Ebay. You listed it by simply stating what it is. Worse yet, you might have tried something pedestrian like, “New”, “Rare”, “Hot”, “Mint”, etc, also in the title. Nobody is going to search for your item by typing in those words. Not a chance. Instead, do some research and find out which keywords are the MOST SOUGHT on Ebay. Then try incorporating these into your auction title as they are applicable. Try using the Pulse on Ebay, or a program called “Hot Item Finder”, and use its Popular Search Term Generator.
Second, consider employing the power of VIDEO to sell your item on Ebay. You can now upload short videos to your auctions as a form of advertising your item. There’s a free screen capture software called CamStudioIM, and it works pretty well. I’d suggest checking out the CamStudioPro version instead, because it now recently comes with a Video Web Wizard, and allows you to edit your clips as well as convert them to flash format.
Thirdly, consider combining the powerful exposure of YouTube with your video auction listing. You can find all of the detailed steps required to accomplish this by means of a developer named, Dave Guindon, at his site: www.DavesOnlineVideos.com That should take care of any questions you have regarding the technical aspects of setting up your files, uploading them and other such details.
Use any or all three of these ideas combined, and your Ebay auction-wallflower days will be over. Now get out there, and get noticed!
How to end your ebay auction-wallflower days and get your listings noticed, using any or all three of these suggestions.

Deciding What to Sell on eBay and How to Find It
The pressing question that almost every eBay seller faces at one point during their selling experience is that dread question: What is it, exactly, that I should sell and where do I get it? You ve sold every last thing in your house that you don t want or need and you re tired of selling other people s stuff and you are wondering where to turn. Finding a solid source for a product is essential in building your eBay business. It may take some work, it may take some time, but once it is established and exclusive, you will have a close to indestructible online business. There are two types of products you need to look for: Introduction Products (Products that are new and in-demand) Liquidation Products (Products that are at the end of the product cycle and being sold at a huge discount) If you re interested in finding introduction products, you are in for a lot of work. You will have to obtain a lot of knowledge about the consumer and almost be able to predict what will sell well. You could possibly find a supplier that supplies a massive amount of one particular new product. However, you may discover they sell horribly on eBay. You are then stuck with all these newly packaged products and probably in debt. When it comes to liquidation products you have a lot more options. There is a lot more room for research to see how popular the product was when it first hit the market. You will also be able to obtain liquidation products at a substantially lower price. After deciding what type of product you would like to sell, it s a matter of finding a supplier. It s not as simple as searching on google or finding a wholesale list on eBay. The internet is saturated with wholesale scams. It may not be impossible to find a good supplier on line, but it could be considered unlikely. A good way to get started in finding a good consistent supplier is to buy products at a discount retailer, like Big Lots or even Wal-mart, and test different products. When you find one you think may be profitable, find out the manufacturer s number (located on the package) and ask to speak to someone about purchasing products for resale. It s a tedious process, but when you find a good supplier you will not regret it. It takes good research and patience. Just remember, the best supplier won t be easily found on the internet or in a book. A good, consistent supplier will be found through the tedious process of finding an exclusive source that you worked hard to discover.

Move Into The Top 1% Of All Ebay Sellers - Accepting The Best Methods Of Payment
eBay is becoming a more competitive environment to make money these days. As such, there are certain things that you can do as an eBay seller to separate yourself and distance yourself from your competition.
As you set up your eBay selling systems, make the commitment to accept all methods of payment. If not, you?ll lose out on potential customers.
The following short list should be considered your preferred method of accepting payment on eBay:
1. PayPal
Paypal, owned by eBay, now has over 100 million members and is the most accepted payment method online. While some sellers don?t like the 3% PayPal fees ? remember that 97% of something is better than 100% of nothing.
PayPal is simple (and free) to set up ? you are only charged a fee when there is a transaction. PayPal makes it easy for every seller to accept credit cards safely online without the time and expense of setting up a typical merchant account.
Many people shop on eBay for convenience. PayPal provides the simples and most convenient way for a buyer to pay. You can register for a free PayPal account at: http://www.paypal.com.
2. Money Order or Personal Check
Some sellers don?t like accepting a personal check for fear of the check bouncing. 99.9% of all checks are good. As long as you follow the basic strategy of not shipping your item until the check clears you have nothing to lose ? even if the check is not good.
Remember that there are some buyers who don?t have a credit card. If you make them go to the bank to get a money order, they may simply buy from someone else who takes a personal check.
I would suggest NOT taking checks from International Buyers as it simply takes too long for the check to clear. Reminder: In your payment terms in your auction, you?ll need to disclose your payment policies ? and be sure to specify whether you?ll accept a personal check or money order from an International Seller.
3. Cash
While it?s not the best method of payment, some eBay sellers do accept cash payments. It?s not likely that a buyer will send you cash for their purchase.
4. Escrow
For a high-ticket item (car, real estate, jewelry, etc.) escrow is a safe and secure way to accept payment for the simple reason that the escrow service will guarantee full protection prior the close of the transaction. NOTE: With escrow, the seller has to wait for the confirmation that the buyer has received the merchandise prior to receiving payment.
Safe Payments Policy
Recently, eBay instituted a ?Safe Payments Policy? in an effort to continue the safe and secure transactions on their site. eBay evaluates various payment methods to insure that transactions are safe within the eBay marketplace.
As such, their recent policy states that sellers may accept the following methods of payment:
-PayPal
-Direct Credit Cards (for those sellers with a merchant account)
-Bank Wire Transfers
-Personal Checks, Money Orders, Cashier?s Checks and Certified Checks
Not permitted on eBay.com: Sellers may not solicit buyers to mail cash. Sellers may not ask buyers to send cash through instant cash transfer services (non-bank, point-to-point cash transfers) such as Western Union or Moneygram. Sellers may not ask buyers to pay with Stormpay, Greenzap.com or e-gold payments. Finally, sellers may not request payment through online payment methods not specifically permitted in this eBay policy.

eBay Auction Headlines - How Keywords Sell Your Item
Millions of eBay auctions are ignored or missed entirely by consumers and/or searchers, due simply to the fact that the Auction Headlines lack the hot keywords that people search for online.
As a technical & customer support representative, I receive emails from inquiring eBay entrepreneurs complaining about not being noticed on eBay…
“What can I do?” they ask me. Well, let’s think about this for a moment. How exactly are you listing your item, specifically in the Title? What are you saying about your item? How are you describing it?
You must consider who would purchase your item, and what would they type into the “search terms” on eBay to find it. This is CRITICAL. These are also known as keywords.
If you don’t know about the power of keywords, then you should start here.
You could use Yahoo’s Overture to search the most recent and popular keywords. Or perhaps you could find another free key-word generator on the internet. Another source would be the Ebay Pulse. That gives you the top 10 most searched terms in a given category.
I’ve found a much simpler - and over-looked function - using an efficient little program called HotItemFinder. It will analyze the most recently searched terms from the ebay databases, and also return the most popular searched items by category as you specify.
Now keep in mind, this software is merely a TOOL. It won’t do the thinking for you. But it should help you immensely in writing your auction titles if you pay attention to the keyword suggestions.
